File-sharing service VIPeers has released an upgraded version of it’s peer-to-peer media discovery and sharing tool PUMP, as reported on TechCrunch France. PUMP is touted as the “iTunes for video”, but it’s exactly much more than that and rather similar to apps like Miro and Joost.
The U.S. House of Representatives has scheduled a hearing Tuesday to examine a bill that would force peer-to-peer applications to provide specific notice to consumers that their files might be shared.
Peer-to-peer software company LimeWire is gently telling Congress to calm down, reassuring anxious lawmakers that the company’s software prevents users from putting the nation’s top secrets or their tax returns at risk, according to an advance copy of a letter obtained by Wired.com.
There aren’t many science and documentary-based trackers out there, and this can sometimes be pretty frustrating. There are a lot of people (like me) who like to download documentaries from channels like National Geographic and Discovery Channel. The thing is, as I said before, not many trackers upload that kind of boring crap. But like they say, ‘One mans trash is another mans treasure’.
There are many sites and forums that deal with private tracker invites. These sites/forums are the best place to share your unwanted torrent invites with other people who need them and, if you need an invite, you can request one or look for one in the relevant thread. In this way, everybody is a winner. But of all the forums I’ve seen, I must say The Pirate Society is the best of them all.
The verdict against The Pirate Bay could turn out to be something of a game changer for P2P file sharing. Granted, the four defendants have already filed their appeals, and the site is currently up and running. In fact, there are 22 million peers connected as I write this, which suggests that most Pirate Bay users don’t feel threatened in any way by the court’s decision.
